Where to mail your Canadian return

A paper T1 goes to the CRA tax centre for where you live. Confirm the address on the CRA page on the day you post, because tax centre assignments change.

A paper T1 goes to a CRA tax centre. Which one depends on where you lived on 31 December 2026.

Find your tax centre

The CRA publishes the current list on the page linked below, organised by province and, for some provinces, by the first part of the postal code. Hypertax does not print an address on your return, because the assignment changes and a stale address sends your return to the wrong building.

Confirm it on the day you post.

Do not send payment in the envelope

Post the return on its own. Pay the balance separately through online banking, through My Payment, or with a remittance voucher at a financial institution. Cash and post do not mix, and a cheque in with the return slows both.

If you do send a cheque, make it payable to the Receiver General for Canada and write your social insurance number on the front.

What to include

Your signed T1, the schedules the return produced, your T4 slips, and the receipts the return asks for. Keep the originals of anything you do not have to send.

Proof of posting

The CRA treats a paper return as filed on the postmark date. Registered mail gives you a dated receipt. It is worth the cost when you are close to 30 April 2027.

If you live outside Canada

Non-resident returns go to a different address, and Hypertax does not prepare them. Read situations Hypertax cannot handle.
