Tax year 2026 · Canada

Guided tax preparation that ends with a finished T1 General you can print and mail.

You answer questions in ordinary English and photograph your T4. Hypertax works out the numbers from published CRA rate tables, shows you where every figure came from, and hands you a completed T1 General to sign and mail.

Free to start, and free to finish while Hypertax is in open testing. Answering the questions, uploading your T4, looking at your finished return on screen, and downloading the return you actually mail all cost nothing today. Nothing is charged and no card is asked for at any point, including the download step. CA$29 to CA$79 — once, per return — is what downloading a finished return will cost once testing ends.

How it works

Three steps, and you can stop after any of them

Nothing is charged at any of them, and no card is asked for, while Hypertax is in open testing. If Hypertax finds partway through that it cannot handle your situation, it says so there and then.

  1. Answer questions in plain words

One question per screen, in everyday English, with a progress bar that always shows how much is left. No tax vocabulary, no blank form to stare at. Stop whenever you like; your answers are saved.

  2. Upload your T4

Photograph the slip with your phone or drop in the PDF. Hypertax reads the boxes and shows you what it read, next to the box it came from, so you can correct anything before it counts. You can also just type the numbers in.

  3. Review, download, print and mail

Every line shows where its number came from. When it looks right, download a completed T1 General, print it, sign it and mail it. Hypertax tells you which CRA address to use and what to include.

What Hypertax does not do

These limits are real and they are listed here rather than in the small print, because finding one out four screens in helps nobody.

Canada only, Quebec included
Hypertax prepares a Canadian T1 General and the provincial or territorial return that goes with it, for every province and territory. If you lived in Quebec on 31 December you get two returns: the federal T1 General carrying the refundable Quebec abatement, and the Quebec TP-1. They go in separate envelopes, one to the Canada Revenue Agency and one to Revenu Québec. Bring the RL-1 your Quebec employer issued alongside your T4 — the TP-1 cannot be prepared without it.
T4 pay only, for this tax year only
No self-employment income, no rent, no investments, no foreign income, no earlier tax years, and no changes to a return you have already filed. If your situation does not fit, Hypertax says so before you spend time on it.
You print it and mail it
Hypertax gives you a finished PDF, ready to sign and mail to the CRA. It does not send anything for you. CRA NETFILE only accepts a .tax file from software the CRA has certified, and Hypertax is not certified, so mailing paper is the route — and it is a slower route than filing online.
The numbers come from rate tables, not from a model
Every figure in your return is produced by published CRA rate tables and fixed rules, and every line on the review screen names the rule behind it. The AI reads your slip and explains the result; it never decides a number on its own.

Pricing

One price per return, shown before you start

You are not asked for payment details to find out what this costs, and the price does not change once you have done the work.

Questions

Answers before you start, not after

If something here rules you out, better now than four screens in.
