Figures: 2026 tax year

What Hypertax stores about you

The categories of information a Hypertax account holds, where they live, who can reach them, and how long each one is kept.

Updated 24 July 2026 · 1 min read

Hypertax holds the information a tax return needs and not much else.

What is held

  • Identity. Your name, date of birth, address, and your tax number.
  • Return data. Your answers, the boxes from your slips, and the figures on the finished return.
  • Documents. Any slip image you uploaded, until you delete it.
  • Account. Your email address, sign-in history, and your consent choices.
  • Payments. Receipts, and the last four digits of the card. Full card numbers never reach Hypertax.
  • Logs. Records of what happened and when, with tax numbers and document text removed before anything is written.

Where it lives

On servers Hypertax runs, encrypted at rest, with encrypted connections in and out.

Who can see it

You can. Support staff need a specific reason and their access is logged. Hypertax does not sell your information and does not use your return data to train a model.

How long it is kept

Return data is kept while your account exists, because you will want last year's return next year. Documents you can delete yourself at any time. Payment records are kept for the period tax and accounting law requires, whatever you do with the account.

Getting a copy, or getting it deleted

Ask through your account. A copy of your data comes back in a machine-readable file. Deletion is described in closing your account.

  • Declining AI consent

Consent to AI processing is optional. Declining it means typing your boxes in by hand, and it does not reduce the return you can prepare or what you pay.

  • Your Social Insurance Number

The Social Insurance Number is what identifies you to the CRA. What Hypertax accepts, how the number is stored, and how it is shown once you have entered it.

This article explains a form and a process. It is general information, not tax advice about your own situation, and Hypertax does not send your return to the CRA — you print it and mail it. See the not-tax-advice notice and the rest of the help centre.
