The T4, Statement of Remuneration Paid, is the slip your employer gives you after the end of the year. It reports your 2026 pay and everything withheld from it. One employer means one T4.

When it should arrive

Your employer must file the T4 information return and give you your copy on or before the last day of February following the calendar year. For 2026 slips that is 28 February 2027, which falls on a Sunday, so the practical date is Monday 1 March 2027.

Boxes are not pre-numbered at the foot

The six spaces in the "Other information" area at the bottom of the slip have no fixed numbers. Your employer writes in the code and the amount. Read the codes carefully; two slips from two employers will not use the same order.

If you worked in Quebec

Your Quebec employer also issues an RL-1, and Hypertax needs it as well as the T4 to prepare your TP-1. Read filing a Quebec return.
